About six years ago, both the legs of this patient were amputated in a train accident. He was suffering from the problem of uncontrolled urination. Investigation has revealed the cause of the disease and now it can be successfully treated. This will prevent his kidneys from getting damaged in the future. Dr Pawan Vasudev, Head of Unit 2 in Safdarjung Hospital’s Department of Urology, pointed out that till now there was no dedicated wing for urological diseases in women and patients associated with spinal cord injury.
Dedicated video UDS free test for these patients has been started at Safdarjung under this branch. This will be the first government hospital in North India. Along with this, doctors of urology from all over the country will discuss and exchange treatment methods. This will benefit patients across the country. About 3,000 such patients are treated every year in the hospital. Till now, due to non-availability of this facility at one place, patients had to wander here and there for treatment. Now this will not happen.

Society will work in three areas
Urological Society of India (USI) will work on patients belonging to three regions. In this, dedicated work will be done for the treatment of spinal cord injury patients, congenital spinal cord problems or urinary bladder problems in pediatrics and urinary problems in women.
